“INTO THE WOODS jr. ” Theater Day Camp

June 15-July 2 (No Camp Fri., July 3)   $695

The Brothers Grimm "go Broadway" as Sondheim and Lapine offer up a cockeyed fairy tale where all of your favorite characters—Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and The Witch—meet and interact on their journeys. With unforgettable roles, little dancing and no chorus, Into The Woods Junior showcases a medium-sized ensemble of talented singers and actors. The sophisticated score has been adapted to make it easier—though still challenging—for young performers. Into The Woods Junior is a funny and engaging way to get young people to think about the stories with which they've grown up and the ethical issues raised therein.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST jr.” Theater Day Camp

July 6-July 24  $695

The Brainy and Beautiful Belle yearns to escape her provincial life...and her brute of a suitor, Gaston. However, Belle gets more adventurous than she wanted when she becomes a captive in the Beast's enchanted castle! Dancing flatware, menacing wolves, and singing furniture fill the stage with thrills in this beloved fairy tale about very different people finding strength in one another and learning how to love.

EVENING SESSION

"HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 "

Musical Theatre Evening Camp (Tues & Thurs)

at Vernon Hills Park District

June 16-July 30   Tues and Thurs Nights $235/250

High School Musical 2 is the second film in the franchise. The World Premiere took place on August 17, 2007 at Disneyland, in Anaheim, California. The primary cast, including Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale attended the event. The film debuted on TV on August 17, 2007 on Disney Channel in the U.S., and on Family in Canada.  In this second installment in Disney's lucrative series, student Troy Bolton stresses over getting a job, with the price of college looming on his mind, as well as trying to make sure he and Gabriella Montez are able to stay together all summer.  The premiere was seen by a total of 17.3 million viewers in the United States—almost 10 million more than its predecessor — making it, at the time of its airing, the highest-rated Disney Channel Movie.

4 WEEK SESSION

"GREASE " Musical Theatre Camp

at The Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center

June 15-July 10  $595

Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959; duck-tailed, hot rodding "Burger Boys" and their gum-snapping, hip shaking "Pink Ladies" in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical.  Head "greaser" Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dubrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through songs as "Greased Lightning" and "Alone at the Drive-In Movie" recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation.
